Carolina Der, WHO :
No Awareness, No Information, No Demand, No Services!
Our 3rd conversation in this series focussing on the provision of CI in Low and Middle-Income Countries.
We looked at ways of raising awareness of CI for infants and children, by listening to parents in countries where there are few resources and little capacity to provide services. How do we do this, provide information and support people to advance awareness? We discussed the ways in which we can share parents’ stories of their experiences in LMIC with their deaf children, from diagnosis to CI. We would like you to join us in the planning of the next step in raising awareness of CI for infants and children in LMIC.
This lively conversation was led by Carolina Der, WHO, and Paige Stringer of the Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss, USA, with Eddie Mukaaya Hear His Voice Uganda, Vahishtai Daboo, Integrated, India, Marcela Varela, proud mum, Colombia, Katalin Gal, Romania and Liubov Wolowik, the Lehnhardt Foundation, Tanya Saunders, a parent from UK and Giovanna Troncoso, a parent from Panama.
We will soon be asking for parents’ stories from Low Resourced Countries and look forward to your contribution!
