OPCI: LIVING ROOM MEETINGS IN THE NETHERLANDS!

OPCI LIVING ROOM MEETINGS FOR CI UERS AND THOSE THINKING ABOUT CI.

These living room meetings are informal and fun events where people with a Cochlear Implant (CI), CI candidates and those considering a CI can meet. The meetings take place in the living rooms of participating host addresses.

Since 2015, we have organized more than 180 living room meetings with, in total, more than 1.500 participants. Both CI wearers, candidate CI wearers and persons considering a CI.  Discussion leader is Henk van Rees and the regular speech to text interpreter is Davy de Bruijn.

There are several reasons why interested parties might consider attending an OPCI living room meeting:

  1. Sharing information and experiences: These meetings provide a platform to share experiences and ask questions about life with a Cochlear Implant (CI). You can learn from the experiences of other CI wearers and get potentially useful tips and advice.
  2. Social interaction: It is an opportunity to meet other people with CI. This can help build a support network and may also lead to new friendships.
  3. Learning about the latest developments: Informational materials are always available from various CI vendors, allowing you to stay up to date on the latest developments and technologies in Cochlear Implantation.
  4. Free Attendance: Attending an OPCI living room meeting is free, which makes it accessible to everyone. It i s important to note that a maximum of eight participants can attend each living room meeting. Attending an OPCI living room meeting is free.

Thus, attending an OPCI living room meeting can be both informative and socially valuable. It helps participants find more confidence and comfort in the journey with a CI.

During these meetings, a writing interpreter is always present and, upon request, a sign language interpreter as well.
The OPCI living room meetings take place at various locations throughout the Netherlands. This means that the specific location may vary depending on the host of the meeting.
