The 21st National Conference for CI in India: CIGICON
“Starting Early, Starting Right” was the theme of the CIGICON in Patna-India at the beginning of September.
Leo De Raeve (ONICI), Martijn Agterberg (Radboud University Medical Center-Nijmegen) and Milan Profant (University Hospital-Bratislava) were invited by Tejinder Singh (MED-EL-India) to present at the 21st National Conference of the Cochlear Implant Group of India (CIGICON).
Leo De Raeve presented on ‘the impact of binaural hearing on complex language development and verbal cognition’. His talk had a positive impact on a lot of participants, who asked to contact Leo directly on this topic.
Leo De Raeve took also part in a panel discussion on “Children with Complex Needs” moderated in an excellent way by Dr. Aparna Nandurkar. It was an insightful discussion, thanks to the esteemed and experienced panelists ( Anuradha Bantwal, Jeena Vinay Joy, Manashi Sarmah, Asha Yathiraj, Deepa Valame, Navneet Guptawho and Leo De Raeve) who were willing to share their experiences with the cochlear implanted children from their practice. Their united vision to improve the quality of rehabilitation of young CI-children sets a strong foundation for the future.
