IFHOH: updating our Advocacy Statement on CI

Cochlear Implants are recognized as proven technology that improve hearing access for countless persons. IFHOH has long been in support of cochlear implants as reflected in its policy paper developed in the mid-1990s. The paper is being updated given the recent release of the World Report on Hearing and the Consensus Paper on CI Treatment for Adult Hearing Loss. This session will be a discussion focusing on the issues that should be covered in the policy paper from a consumer-based approach. The revised paper covers topics of access, benefits, informed decision-making and best practises. The revised paper will be posted on IFHOH’s website www.ifhoh.org

Speakers for the session are:

  • Bowen Tang, CI user and President of the International Federation of Hard of Hearing Young People
  • Carole Willans, CI user and Interim General Secretary of the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People
  • Ruth Warick (Ph.D.), President of the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People.
