The International Federation of Hard of Hearing Young People (IFHOHYP) works on three levels: educational, informational, advocational. They work with the Council of Europe, the European Disability Forum, and are active members in the World Hearing Forum of the World Health Organisation. They hold special consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Organisation and part of the Global Network for Young People with Disabilities. Led by Bowen Tang, himself an implant user and a qualified teacher of the deaf, their work is an inspiration.
This year, in partnership with the Council of Europe, they held a week-long intensive training to build leadership and advocacy skills. Hard of Hearing young people 18 to 35 from across the globe participated to build their skills – an inspiring week for all, and much valued. CIICA welcomes their initiatives!
